Good game and great videos
I never felt comfortable on the black side of trompowsky, didn't know which system to play. The way trialanderror handled it makes me want to play 2. ...e6
By the way JoshSpecht maby you are planning to do another video on trompowsky?I would love to hear something about 2. ...e6

looking forward to see more

After this disaster, maybe I should make a video on the 2...e6 Trompowsky! I'll start working on one.

josh was clearly out of form... happens to everyone. takes a lot of ballz to post all this stuff publicly and take it in stride. congrats on that and the success of this great website.

Thanks for the support Katar :) Although I must say that it was as much the result of T&E playing a great game as me being out of form.

you kept talking about playing f4 on move 9. Why didn't you just play f4 if that's what you wanted. He wasn't threatening anything.

TrialAndError: after Nd2 i have considered the immediate Bxh3... with the same idea of Qg5+ after gxh3... how do you evaluate resulting position? I think that is better...

Yes, I agree with you Stockton. I should've played f4....maybe I missed that he can't win the d5 pawn.

Travelle: That's a good point! Much more forcing and it breaks down my kingside completely.

Previously I've been playing the Ne4 line against the Tromp but e6 appears fine. I have to congratulate black on a fine game.

It's hard to get a good position against TrialAndError. I noticed that in another dual commentary game..

Good videos! I learned a lot from both of you.

However, I don't think it's "kind of [cheating]" to be well-prepared in the opening. It is a component of chess strength even if not the most important. Chess is like war and as any good general, you should learn from past battles and study what tactics your opponent uses. I wouldn't want to sent my men to die in battle for no cause and without a plan. I mean what would that be? Iraq?
