a shame, anand had a win a few times. Interesting game with all the swings. Topa with 2 white games to finish the match out, let's hope Anand can hang on.

Brutal last two games for Anand. Topalov has to be a fairly big favorite now?

Isn't this match showing that the quick-draw/quick-resign mentality is a huge leak? There were drawn positions in game 8 and losing positions in this game, but Topalov gets 1.5 points instead of a potential 0.5.

the last 2 games, & especially this last one have me converted to not-so much a Topalov fan as it does make me an Anand disliker. I will pull for Topalov for the rest of this match & hope that if he wins that somebody I like can wrest the title away from him soon.

I dont know if Anand can recover from giving points away, maybe he can, but I dont know.

Thanks Greg!

Yep, Anand choked for the second time in a row.

When I first saw this video was up I noticed that someone voted it 1-Pawn... surely that was a mouse slip. If not, I want to point out that what Greg does in these videos is what we should all be doing when looking at Master games, come to your own conclusions and make educated guesses. This game is a typical example of why this is a valuable technique; you then find either through a chess engine or annotations that there were quite a few subtleties at play. Greg is a strong player and would play differently than how he looks at games in this type scenario (that's just human nature). The time constraints and the lack of losing the game IRL mean that a more relaxed approach is used.

I am thinking of using Greg's technique to cover the Copper State Inv'tl in early June. If you think that Greg might have missed a thing or two, then you will be shocked with what I come up with!

Well could be 1 pawn since I was complaining about my mood the entire time :) I feel better now, shouldve waited.

I readily admit that this was not my best work :)

I totally agree with you.
I mean, I can't believe Anand after 63.Rd5 Kc8 didn't play 64.Rdd7 ! If I'm just a rookie and I saw it, why didn't he?

Anyway, from now on Topalov seems the one most likely to win.

Thanks, Gregory, for your videos :D

Jeez Louise Anand! It seems that Anand is suffering a crisis of confidence after these tragic games (for him). You just have to admire Topalov's grit here even if you don't admire the person. Since it is about Chess and not about personality, I have no problem with Topalov taking the title. I'm still hoping the guy in the white hat somehow recovers his form and pulls the rabbit out. Also, there's no way that this video is 1 star, after all, Greg saw the win when the WC did not.
