 Wiki-project (ChessVideos wants YOU!)
Since I've been reworking the wiki and building on the work of CVwiki pioneers like Gideon, CCmolitoris, BoyHowdy, and GentleWhisper, I thought I'd make a thread for coordinating group wiki projects. The pages that most need revamping (and updating) are Videos of Tactical Studies and Videos of Positional Studies. If you want to dive in and start editing, be my guest. In the short term, just finding videos that are appropriate for these pages would be great. You can either post links in this thread or just paste them into the wiki. Neither of those pages have been updated in over a year. Also, if you track down relevant discussion threads, that would be great too. I'll probably start working on the Tactical Studies page in the next few days and track my work here. Also, if you want to work on the wiki on your own (on any page), feel free to do so. A good place to start is by expanding your own wiki page!

 Re: Wiki-project (ChessVideos wants YOU!)
Wow, let's not all respond to at once Anyways, I'm moving on to working on the tactics article. The tricky part is figuring out how to organize videos. I think I might break it down by videos on specific problems, videos on specific tactical themes, videos of people solving tactics problems (like pattern recognition #1), and games that highlight particular tactics well. What do y'all think? Also, finding all these videos is a bit tricky, so if anybody has recommendations for videos, let me know!

NICE! There's a lot of new content for that one.

 Re: Wiki-project (ChessVideos wants YOU!)
if you could somehow encourage the use of tags, this would be much easier. ie, video-search for "knight outpost" and get 10 results.
i recall Admin posted a whitelist of about 7,000 tags, but this list could be trimmed to let's say 20. ideally, the list could be viewable next to the tagging field below the video. even better would be a popup with checkboxes since folks are too lazy to type.
that way casual watchers of videos could help you catalogue the thematic content of each video.

 Re: Wiki-project (ChessVideos wants YOU!)
Getting people to suggest tags is tricky, but I agree that would help.

 Re: Wiki-project (ChessVideos wants YOU!)
I suggested this in the questionnaire a few weeks ago. Tags like opening, broken down into, say, Ruy Lopez, Sicilian, Queen's Gambit, Nimzo Indian, etc.; endgame, broken down into pawn endgame, rook endgame, etc. could be applicable to any game video. Other kinds of videos could have tags like tactics, isolated pawn, that kind of thing. It might be awkward to do for some videos but the current tag system isn't very helpful as it's pretty chaotic.

That would also force a uniform spelling, very useful for searching!

Did a MAJOR revamp of the tactics page. What do y'all think? Coming up with the organization was tricky. Also if I missed anything, let me know.

 Re: Wiki-project (ChessVideos wants YOU!)
Thinking about the organization of the Videos by Opening page. I don't really like how you're greeted with a massive index, but I'm not really sure how to improve it. I was thinking about making it a page of videos about the opening specifically and then re-linking to the massive video index. But that's just one idea, any input would be very much appreciated. At the very least, I'm going to break the index into King Pawn, Queen Pawn, etc.

 Re: Wiki-project (ChessVideos wants YOU!)
Make a page "Opening Videos", list pages like "King's Pawns" and list all the kings pawn openings on the King's Pawn page. Cuts down on the index, but adds a few more pages.

 Re: Wiki-project (ChessVideos wants YOU!)
Not to blow my own horn, but I think my Introduction to the Tayler Opening video is perhaps worthy of inclusion in the openings wiki. viewtopic.php?t=4816
