Nice game - I enjoy the Botvinnik too, though I haven't seen it played from the Black side. With White having the extra tempo, I don't think it should be quite as effective, but your game showed that if White is asleep at the wheel, it can still be potent. (I suppose that is true of any opening though, isn't it?)

Great vid! Some comments:

The ending slide is AWESOME. Musical accompaniment is great as well.

You played a great attacking game, I do however think you're underestimating white's chances in the first twenty moves. He completely self-destructed, but up until move 21 or so he was totally fine. You had the makings of a strong attack, but he had sufficiently counterplay in the center and on the queenside.

22.Rbd1 was the start of a terrible plan that was suicide. He needed to play something more immediate on the queenside. Perhaps somehow moving his knight and getting more immediate pressure on the b-file. I prefer black in those positions just because the black side is easier to play, but white is totally fine.

23.e4 was another mistake and shows he's pursuing way too slow of a plan (And hemming in his bishop for inexplicable reasons).

25.gxf4 was the last straw and suicide. After that he's crushed.

I would've tried 28...Bxg2 instead of Rxg2+ I think it keeps the king trapped on the kingside long enough for you to mate. Also I agree with studentofchess that 29...Qg4 was probably an improvement.

Finally your instinct regarding 38...QxR was good. You should've just taken there and promoted the f-pawn.

All in all, a very nice game and entertaining video! I do think you underestimated white's queenside play early on, but you kept the pressure well and exploited white's mistakes.

Thanks for the kind words ! White was fine in the beginning, but I'm convinced, that Black has a practical advantage, since he's attacking the king and not some weak b-pawn. Not a forced win, but better chances.

Edit: I'm using Microsoft Expression Encoder 3 to record. Excellent software, but unfortunately only a trial version, that won't let you record videos over 10 minutes (that explains the abrupt end). Sadly, Camstudio and Vista are always fighting with each other. I think, Vista started it. D:

What about Windows Media Encoder?

Doesn't run on Vista. I'm pretty sure that Expression Encoder 3 is the Media Encoder pepped up for Vista.

Ah, jerks! That's unfortunate since WME was a great FREE screen capture utility.

That's strange. I'll assume playing around with the settings didn't help either? Maybe try SnagIt, the older versions should be free (I think).
