 Chess Book Trades
Many of you probably have chess books that you've grown out of or mastered, or totally finished, what do you do with them after you're done? I have quite a few books that I don't read anymore, I'm suggesting a possible section of this site for trading chess books? I'm sure many of you have chess books that I would want, and probably I have some books you may want. I'm sure this holds true for many of you, it would be cool to swap books to get what you need!
Some problems with this is how you can trust somebody to send a book to you if you send your book to them, and the qualities of the instruction, and the size of the book. Also how much damage the book has taken. Hopefully the problems can be solved with simple communication, giving as much info as possible. The only thing i don't have a solution for is the first question, how can we trust somebody? Any thoughts?
thanks

 Re: Chess Book Trades
Sending it through an intermediary would probably be best, like a trusted member of the website.
Sounds like a good idea though, be great if we could pull if off =)

I use (for general reading) www.paperbackswap.com to trade books.

Although indicted, I've never been convicted- perhaps I could help.

 Re: Chess Book Trades
yeah, if somebody were willing to take on the difficult job of being the intermediate person, that would work perfectly, assuming the person who sends it pays double shipping so that the intermediate doesn't have to pay for shipping . @dewetha that website is interesting, lots of great books, but not many quality chess books

 Re: Chess Book Trades
It's probably best to list the books you're willing to trade in here, and then use a website with an established trading system, like paperbackswap, to make the trade happen.

 Re: Chess Book Trades
Or just trust each other? I mean, yeah, someone could cheat you out of a chess book, but I think most people aren't going to scam you. Maybe I'm naiive. Maybe have a list of trusted traders if that's the case.

 Re: Chess Book Trades
I would be willing to trade my "Chess Strategy for Club Players" - (it was book of the year on chesscafe.com - a great strategic/positional book - http://www.chesscafe.com/text/review696.pdf) for your New Sicilian Dragon book - price points are virtually the same - mine is maybe a buck more but the spine is a bit bent cause it did get real usage I don't know you but most folks here know me and I'm a pretty trusted name so if you're willing to do a straight trade with me I'm game - I wouldn't let my reputation go bad on a bad book deal but that's probably the only one I'm interested in - PM with address if you are interested and I'll do the same RB

 Re: Chess Book Trades
ok sure, gimme a couple of days to think about it though, I want to see what the book is like in terms of content, sort of busy these days, I want to get a chance to read the review, but sure, I don't mind sending you the book straight up if you do the same

 Re: Chess Book Trades
sure thing - can probably just be stuffed in padded mailer envelopes hopefully - I got a little mocha on mine on edge but didn't write in it so none of the puzzle questions are ruined rb

 Re: Chess Book Trades
I looked over the book review and some info on it on some other sites, and the book seems to look very similar to the ChessCafe Puzzle Book 2 Positional Exercises and My System, which cover all the topics and give maybe 100+ positional puzzles, your book seems to give more of a introduction to all the topics hence the "club" player in the title, i'm looking for more of an advanced, and extremely difficult positional book, that's different from the books I have. Are there any other books you'd be willing to trade for the Dragon book?

 Re: Chess Book Trades
hmmm... a couple come to mind but I haven't read them yet - unless you don't have a copy of How to Reassess Your Chess - (which will get a 4th edition soon anyways) - - no biggie - I'll hang onto it and look at maybe buying that dragon book - thanks anyways
