Very nice, I liked the idea of trading your light squared bishop for his knight on e2 to diminish his dark-square control! The redundant knights comment is spot on too; I was even thinking of making a video at some point to discuss redundancy of pieces. This concept seems to be underrepresented in the chess literature.

Nice game, the play for d4 and c5 squares was quite instructive.

What were the ghostly faces at 8:40 BTW?

It normally shows pictures of players through a player database in Chessbase. You'll see in future videos.

Exciting game and a great start for the New Year. I, too, was impressed with the dark-square control you had even when your opponent still held a bishop of that color.

When Botvit played 18...Rxb4 I thought he should have tried the idea of e5 and then maybe f5 immediately after that which would have the follow-up threat of f5f6. I dunno, I suck at 5-min so I may be missing something.

I saw the ...g5 move as well, but I thought your ...Qf2 was just as good, but I guess the computer thinks differently... computers, they say the darndest things!

Merry New Year to you too!
