enjoyed this... i love karpovs games... i enjoy reading his analysis but it did seem a little bit dubious... i think he's one of those guys who plays chess better than he "knows" it.

really interesting. like it that you post videos on this "classic" openings like the ruy lopez and the QGD. really instructive! also it is very interesting that you pinpoint the moments in the game where black can choose to go for a 2 results position or really go for it. i find this very difficult to figure out in my own games. thanks for the video!

Cool game by Karpov, who proves that he isn't just a dull positional player (not that positional players play dull chess in general), but a great tactician, too.
I'm glad I found the Bxf7 and Neg5 idea immediately, well, I would've been disappointed if I hadn't after 20 problems on chesstempo.com :P.
Great video as usual Dennis, really nice to understand all these move order battles. Thanks, keep it up, please ;).

Excellent video! The move order finesses in the opening are quite instructive, and I enjoy the "stump the viewer" questions that make me analyze the critical positions.

I suspect Karpov's weakness as an annotator might be due to his feeling that he does not need computer assistance, whereas other GM annotators avail themselves of the silicon resources. Without knowing him personally or reading any of his statements, though, I'm just speculating like the rest of the fish in the chess ocean.
