I loved that variation with Rf6 and Qh8, but I have to admit, you'd have to have some guts to play that line! Winning or not, it's not easy to see at all. Good job, you are making me want to take another look at the Tarrasch again.

Hi Renier,
As 1...e6 is my main reply to e4 every time you post a video on the French - particularly the Tarrasch - I go away and worry a bit more! Anyway ... nice job as ever.
regards

not to be a jerk but this video has distracting audio artifacts, some kind of background hum with strange static sounds

It's true, I didn't notice. What software do you use of recording? I did this with Camtasia, could it be a software problem. Thanks for all the comments, I'm sorry about this little problem. Best regards Renier http://renierchess.blogspot.com

Not sure. I would think it is the microphone. Maybe the microphone is picking up some fluorescent lights or CRT monitor or some other electronic equipment. I had never heard it in your videos before.

I could also be coming from a space heater or baseboard heater. I've never heard the noise before it got a bit cold outside, so either you dropped and damaged your mic or Katar is right, there is some electrical interference. Still, the noise is, to me at least, only a little annoying and I wouldn't let it hold you back if you can't figure it out right away.

Re: IM Renier C.: Creativity in the French Defense [33:00]
I figured out where the static noise comes from, when I use the laptop on battery there is no noise, when I connect it the noise is back, the problem is that my battery is so used that it doesn't last for much, So I can't record without the laptop connected, any suggestions how to fix this?

Maybe use another lighting source? I remember that fluorescent lights used to cause interference in amplified guitar sound. Or maybe plug in to a different outlet? A sure solution would be to use a noise gate effect but this would be a lot of hassle. we got an electrical engineer up in this joint? All in all I think you can just make more videos with the audio artifacts, i am the only jackass who seemed to notice!

Re: IM Renier C.: Creativity in the French Defense [33:00]
One other idea, along Katar's 'noise gate' suggestion. If you have Camtasia there should be a selection in your production screen (i.e., post recording, you drag your video into the timeline for editing), look for 'Audio Enhancements', from there you will find 'Remove Noise' you can have this done automatically, or, select a section of the video yourself where there is no talking and do it that way.
You may have to play around with the settings a bit, but I'm sure if you have a fairly newer version of CamStudio you should be able to figure it out.

Re: katar's comments:
Your not the only one who noticed but possibly you know enough to know that something can be done about it!
I noticed some noise/interference but just assumed it was an act of technology that had to be tolerated.
