Kornrade writes about chess engine limitations in 'homemade Studies [IV]:
"Today's engines have 4 huge gaps of "understanding":
- Fortress, be it around the enemy queen, king, or around the own king...."
Well, this is a good hint to proceed and I zeroed on the solution almost immediately. But I don't want to spoil the fun by giving it . The funny part is, even when the computer is helpless to win against White's defense, it goes on giving huge plus to Black!
(...but can I be too sure? Could there be cooks in my solution? I shall wait to see others' response)

Have I jumped the gun? There seemed to be myriad variations. But basically only two lines of defense.
One, to stop Black's promotion of a or b pawn and the other, (more tricky one) allow promotion and defend.
The first option:1.c5 a3 2.Kc3 a2 3.Kb2 e5 4.Ne3 (4.dxe5 Bxc5 5.Bd2 Bd4+ 6.Bc3 c5 and White is fully tied up. Black King marches up the board and promotes either f or g pawn) exd4 5.Nc4 Bxc5 6.Na5 d3 7.Nxb3 Bxf2 8.Nc1 Bh4 9.Bd2 g5 10.Nxd3 Ke6 11.Kxa2 and White's relief in liquidating Black's advanced pawns is temporary. 3 more menacing pawns will ensure Black's win.
So, what else?

Thanks for the interest in the puzzle snrao, and also for trying to make the others have a look at it as well :)
I'll post the solution (which also includes my analysis of sidelines) in a few days.

Ok, I think I found the intended main line. But still didn't work out the sidelines.

The main line should be:

Hidden Text Below - [Show it] - [Hide it Again]

Kornrade, do you want to see the follow up?

Ok:

Hidden Text Below - [Show it] - [Hide it Again]

If this doesn't solve I am very curious about your solution :?:

It is the solution as you describe it, I just wanted to point out to a setup that Black can try. In the solution below, the setup arises after Black's 22nd move in the main line, when White's King cannot run around the pawn any more.

Hidden Text Below - [Show it] - [Hide it Again]

I suspected trouble after Black's Queen is born and in spite of creating a fortress, White King could be put to zugzwang. I wanted to poach on others' views. I thought after White's King reached d6, Black's Queen would tied to the defense of c6 & e6 pawns as losing one of them could result in defeat. Now it takes a day or two before I accept Kornrade's key and congratulate him for creating another beauty.

I fully agree with your line only until move 9. I think white can have an easier way to draw:

Hidden Text Below - [Show it] - [Hide it Again]

Of course this is just a positional idea without analysis, but it looks very reasonable.

YES. I agree with zeitnotakrobat. Why surrender a dominant square?

You are right, it seems :)
It wouldn't be the first time I am analysing a suboptimal defense to prove the point... Fortunately, I don't think that this correction affects the idea of the study :eye:
Thanks for the help

Kornrade compositions are riddles of incredible complexity, defying chess engines. I feel lucky to be able to solve it early this time. But some doubts still remain. Can Black or White try to win after White's 9th move?
I feel it would be easy to follow when the key is given in informator/fritz style, of course, with added comments which explain the motives. This is just a suggestion.
