Post Making videos with 64 bit Windows 7!?
Hi there,

It has been a couple of years since I made 3 videos for your site and I was looking to do some new ones soon based on my games of the last couple of years (3 IM Norms achieved!). However, I have now moved on to a new machine with 64 bit Windows 7 and it appears that Windows Media Encoder is no longer supported (MS sell the Expression Encoder :( ). What is the recommended way of making videos on Windows 7?

Cheers,
FM Graham Morrison

Hi Graham,

Windows Media Encoder still works on Windows 7!
Microsoft simply made it more difficult to find.

You can still download and install the above and it will work on Windows 7. This is the exact version (#9.0.0.2980) that I have installed on Windows 7.

Hi katar,

Thanks very much for the rapid and encouraging reply.

However, I am a little worried that the Windows 7 Compatibility Centre says that this program is incompatible with 64 bit Windows 7 ( see http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compat ... &os=64-bit ).

Is your version of Windows 7 also 64 bit?

Cheers,
Graham

Yes, I am running 64 bit Windows 7-- i have not experienced any problems with WME 9.0.0.2980.

b) Graham, looking very much forward to your videos! You played against my friend in Scotland vs Iceland last year if I remember correctly. Congrats on the norms!
