well done (as all your videos I'v seen until now)!

There is also the somewhat puzzling and perhaps most flexible 7...Bd6!? (in addition to 7...Bc5 and 7...Be7) after 7.d3 which may give Black more of the somewhat combative game he is out to.

Maybe you like to have a look on it next time (Well, who cares if we end up with 50 or 51 quick parts) ? - There is also a video of Harzvi mentioning this line as an interesting choice for Black.

Brilliant...this is the stuff I've been waiting for! White lures black's pieces over to the queenside then wins with a simple pin...nice play by Carlsen.

Great video! There's lots of information here and I enjoyed watching parts of it more than once just so some things would sink in.

Could Beliavsky have considered (instead of 15... Bxa2) playing 15... exd4 16. cxd4 Bc4 (or maybe just 15... Bc4), trying to either get the knight off the rim or indirectly pressure f2 by forcing the rook to move? I find it a bit surprising that he would spend two tempi to activate the bishop only to exchange it.

Hi Dan,

It's a good idea in principle, but that knight is almost terminally bad! After 15...exd4 15.cxd4 Bc4 White plays 16.Bxc4 Nxc4 17.Qe2, sending the knight back into oblivion. After 17...Na5 18.e5 the beheading begins! 15...Bc4 is similarly inadequate: 16.Bxc4 Nxc4 17.Qe2 Na5 (poor knight!) 18.dxe5. It's a free pawn and a smashingly good position to boot, e.g. 18...dxe5 19.Rd1! Qc8 20.Nf5 and Black may want to pack his bags and go home, before White figures out how to make a combination for the anthologies.
