It should probably be fairly obvious but I neglected to note that in the starting position, White cannot play 1.g6xh7 because Black simply plays 1...Kg7 and the pawn is toast.

Well, I'm stumped. #59 looks dead lost for White with the King being cut off and Black's King in close proximity to the pawns. The only outcome that seems remotely possible is K+R vs. K+B but I don't see any way to attack the bishop advantageously.

I can hardly await the solution!

My guess/observation for #59:

Hidden Text Below - [Show it] - [Hide it Again]

I hadn't even thought of that! I think I got it now. Alright here's my attempt at solving this:

Hidden Text Below - [Show it] - [Hide it Again]

If this is correct, I consider it an collaborative effort as I would have never gotten it without Zibbit's "blueprint".

I love the #58 study. I give this to students and play Black, they run out the pawn moves and we have the prosaic win. Then I flip the tables and let them have White and see how the deal with the K-f7-g8 defense, it always brings a smile to their face when they finally realize the key move.

Sad there's not much on Troitsky and that his studies were lost. What a loss for the chess world. The Great War and WWII took away some inspiring talent in its wake.
