Hi Dennis,

This was one of my best games despite it being a loss and would very much appreciate your comments. It was against a tough opponent, Ian Watson, who regularly competes in the British and European problem solving championships and writes various pieces, mainly on studies and endgames for magazines in England. He certainly knows his stuff and has drawn games against the likes of GM Chris Ward and GM Danny Gormally.

I have been working hard with my coach FM Steve Giddins and my results have been improving steadily. I was up a piece with the black pieces after misplaying the opening (13...Nd4? expecting 16. Qxd4 Bc5 with counterplay but overlooking 16.Nf3) and we both hit time trouble around move 28. By move 36...Nxd3 I only have a couple of minutes for the rest of the game and blunder. I have analysed the alternate 36...Ne4, which was my instinctive choice, extensively and think this wins but your input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Dennis,

I send you a game played last week-end I found very entertaining (I was black), though there is obviously a lot of mistakes. Hope you find it interesting too.

I find it difficult to play with these kind of hanging pawns. Thinks looked liked I might have been about to equalize, but I had trouble avoiding the knight fork. I now think that black can get away with 20 .. Qb5.

Hi Dennis,

In spite of overlooking some winning tactical shots, I managed to reach what I *think* was a winning minor piece endgame. I would appreciate your evaluation of the endgame after white's 34th move, and also any tips about how I could have collected the point with less drama. I do think the mutual zugzwang to finish off was a nice touch, in spite of all my previous efforts to give away the half-point. I always appreciate your insights--thanks in advance!
