Bleh, I just can't find the time to analyze that game properly. I really should because I made a few inaccurate moves early on.

As a sidenote, it's depressing to come back after a break and realize how much I don't see as opposed to how much I was seeing when I stopped playing. :/

Well, if it's any consolation, it seems to happen to curtains too. :jocolor:

I guess that means I should now make lots of Blitz videos and start to rant like a madman, then get my IM title. :D

I shall refrain. The title of this thread would suddenly be incredibly creepy. ;)

Neat tactic from a game against a friend:

Re: The Chess Web (Hitchhiker's training journal)
Things I need to learn:

1) Not to release tension prematurely with pawn centers (or generally points where pawns could take each other). I always am tempted to take within one or two moves.
2) Give back material for a positional advantage. For some reason this one is really hard. I'm almost feeling forced to just keep what I have during the game. It's like a primal instinct somehow.

Any ideas on how to learn that sort of thing? :)

Here's another tactical puzzle from one of my recent Blitz games, it's White to move, Black has just played Bb7.

Wow, it's been a few month.

Had my first round league game yesterday. The team won 5-3, I lost my game. Pretty disgusted, I was better for almost 40 moves, then had a dumb idea and the position just collapsed. I missed a few things before that too, so I wasn't playing very well. Maybe I'll get around to analyzing it later this week.

Re: The Chess Web (Hitchhiker's training journal)
Weird blitz game with a nice king hunt at the end:

[WhiteElo "1679"][BlackElo "1606"][TimeControl "300"]

I was Black. Without much analysis, I missed Ne4, but I think I'm fine anyway. Probably taking on c1 is better, but I didn't like Nxf6 at all, I didn't see that I'd get two rooks against a Queen in the hurry. Another example of me not calculating very well lately.

Also had two new peaks in my Blitz rating the last few days, I was up to 1684 three days ago, until I started to play too much and tired. Really need to stop that. :? Maybe I need to get a second account for when I just want to play.

And more tactics:

Interesting queen "sac"- I thought Nxf6 looked scary too- even with the two rooks, the black king looks exposed. Nice tactic too. :)
