OK guys I decided to create this. Let's have some fun!

I think lets start with OTB tournament games. I would like to hear your suggestion on how to prepare for these upcomming January tournaments I will participate!

 10.01 - Anniversary tournament of Latvian master Vija Rozlapa.

Time control: 5 min. + 3 sec. (11 rounds, Swiss system)

Confirmed participation:

 17.01 - Riga Chess Federation Cup in the rapid chess with rating up to ~ 2200

Time control: 10min +2sec (8 rounds)

 20. - 22.01 Riga Chess Federation championship - 2012 I period with ELO calculation (5 rounds)

Time control: 90min +30sec?

 26. - 29.01 Latvian championship quarterfinals with a rating up to 2100 [ELO calculation]

Time control: 60min +30sec

So guys all advices, suggestions etc will greatly appreciate.
I want to add that I haven't "seriously" competed in tournaments at least 3-5 years!

The only thing that comes to mind is to play training games at the aforementioned time controls-if possible and preferably otb-but online is better than nothing. Also it may help to research your opponents-if possible. Solving puzzles/problems quickly may help too.

Best of luck and happy 2012 :)

Healthy holidays to us all :)

Good luck with the latvian championships. Maybe analyse some games for us when you get back?

It is better to follow out a plan consistently even if it isn't the best one than to play without a plan at all. The worst thing is to wander about aimlessly. - Alexander Kotov
