This is the inaugural post in our new Best of CV.TV series. We'll be highlighting the past week's best content. The success of this series depends on your participation, so if you want to recommend any posts, games, or videos for the second installment of this series, please post
here.
On to the content:
One of our most exciting recent posts has been admin's
interview with Greg Shahade, aka curtains. The interview covered a range of topics, from curtains' personal life to his thoughts about ChessVideos.TV and elite chess. The interview is well worth a listen!
Meanwhile, we've had some great threads in our discussion forums. armis, one of our oldest and most active members, asked the community for
recommendations of chess books he could carry around to study on the go. In the Game Replays forum, new member Avatarz posted a
Danish gambit game that led to an interesting theoretical discussion between avatarz, jwhis, kamus, and katar.
The training journals forum has also been busy and it remains one of CV.TV's best spots for in-depth training advice. avs_fan06 started a
new journal, and gentlewhisper's
log has recently turned to a discussion of the King's gambit. Hitchhiker returned from a three week hiatus to update his journal with a
couple positions from recent games.
The video forums have been especially active, with loads of great new videos. Dennis' video this week covers the wild
von Hennig-Schara gambit. Meanwhile, curtains is producing videos again with a
trio of entertaining games (see 435-437).
The Chess Aquarium posted an excellent (and polished!)
video on the English Attack in the Najdorf. Finally, we have three game analyses, two of which cover high-level games. ClausJensen provided his thoughts on
Gligoric-Larsen, 1967, part of a longer series on classic games. Check them out! sfarmer29 continued his
coverage of the USCL's Arizona Scorpions with analysis of one of their recent tournament games. Finally, we end with a video noteworthy for the fact that it features analysis and play from both of ChessVideos.TV's founders. I (JoshSpecht) analyzed
one of admin's recent blitz games. The game featured several interesting tactics, as well as some good discussion of opening strategy.
That's it for this week's Best of ChessVideos.TV! Please
let us know what you think and don't don't hesitate to make suggestions for the next installment.
