Best of the Week #4

We've had a very busy week in the video forums, so get a bowl of popcorn...it's time for the Best of the Week!

The discussion forums have been very busy with continued debate in threads we've highlighted in past updates. Playing Against Stronger Players and the Greco Counter Gambit threads have both remained active, and we might be getting a CV Greco match video soon! We also had a few new threads that I found especially interesting. In the General Discussion Forum, fhl posted a miniature played by ChessVideos producer and Grandmaster, Joshua Friedel. The Openings for Black Against 1.d4 thread received a number of thoughtful contributions, including some valuable input from Fide Master Zibbit.

As I wrote in the lead, videos have abounded in the past week. Dennis' latest video, Attacking Chess, shows FM Monokroussos playing a typically (for him at least) wild game. Sit back and enjoy the fireworks!

A series I want to single out for attention is ClausJensen's excellent group of videos on Bent Larsen. Production values are high, as is the level of analysis. Don't hesistate to watch Spassky-Larsen, 1968; Larsen - Portisch, 1967; or Larsen - Gheorghiu, 1967.

For analysis of more recent games, check out sfarmer29's series on the New Mexico Championship. Start with his coverage of round one.

We've had a number of fun live commentaries from Calm, curtains, and others. Frenchie501 even tried a blindfold live commentary!

Finally, we've had a couple great opening videos. Katar discusses the two knights after 1.e4 e5, and gentlewhisper provided an intro to Bc4 in the exchange grunfeld.

That's all for this week, folks. Let me know what you think!
