Best of the Week #6

It's time for another edition of the Best of the Week!

The forums have been buuuusy. Traffic has been high of late, which is definitely inspiring. Hats off to all of you who continue to make ChessVideos.TV the wonderful community it is. Anyways, on to the content...

Perhaps the most exciting discussion thread of the past week is Calm's coverage of a First Saturday Tournament in which he's participating. This is an IM-norm event. Calm has been doing quite respectably, making all of us at CV proud (and a little jealous!). The tournament is ongoing, so make sure to check out the thread and provide encouragement.

Meanwhile, I started a discussion about what I believe are ugly chess book covers. Some people disagreed, but I think we got a good discussion going. Let me know what you think.

Our last minute contribution to this round-up is evan7284's thread on funny chess moments. I've seen some crazy goings on at tournaments, so I know this thread has a lot of potential. Join in.

In the video forums we've had a variety of excellent lessons. Dennis' newest video is on viewer questions. If you like following a player over the course of a tournament, check out sfarmer29's series on the AZ Senior Championships. Start with his coverage of rounds 1 and 2.

Kamus has an ongoing series analyzing classic games of the past. Check out his videos on Andersson - Basman, 1974 and Gallagher - Johansen, 1984. High level analysis + good production quality = great ChessVideos.TV content! Similarly, ClausJensen's analysis of classic Bent Larsen games continues with his coverage of Larsen - Tal from their 1969 match.

Hitchiker produced a good round-up video on combinations at the EU team championships. Finally, I'd like to welcome new video producer Jrjrjr4 to the fold. Check out one of his live commentaries.

Well, that does it for this week. Once again, let me know what you think.
